Nehemiah SOAP Study

Day 1: Nehemiah 1

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 1:4-5.
  • Observation: What is Nehemiah’s response when he hears about the state of Jerusalem? What does his prayer reveal about his faith?
  • Application: How can you respond to tough situations with prayer and dependence on God like Nehemiah?
  • Prayer: Ask God to give you a heart that cares deeply for others and turns to Him in prayer.

Day 2: Nehemiah 2

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 2:4-5.
  • Observation: How does Nehemiah approach the king? What do you notice about his trust in God and his courage?
  • Application: Think of a situation where you need to trust God and be brave. How can Nehemiah’s example help you?
  • Prayer: Pray for boldness and wisdom in the situations you face.

Day 3: Nehemiah 3

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 3:1.
  • Observation: What is significant about the different people who are building the wall? Why is it important that they work together?
  • Application: How can you be a team player and work with others to accomplish a big goal?
  • Prayer: Pray for a cooperative spirit and the ability to work well with others.

Day 4: Nehemiah 4

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 4:14.
  • Observation: How do Nehemiah and the people handle the opposition they face? What role does faith in God play in their response?
  • Application: When you face difficulties, how can you stay strong and rely on God’s help?
  • Prayer: Ask God for strength to overcome challenges and faith to trust Him in all situations.

Day 5: Nehemiah 5

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 5:11-12.
  • Observation: What problem does Nehemiah address among the people, and how does he resolve it? Why is justice important in this chapter?
  • Application: How can you be fair and just in your dealings with others? What can you learn from Nehemiah’s actions?
  • Prayer: Pray for a heart that seeks justice and fairness in your relationships.

Day 6: Nehemiah 6

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 6:9.
  • Observation: What strategies do Nehemiah’s enemies use to try to stop him? How does Nehemiah remain focused on his task?
  • Application: When distractions come, how can you stay focused on what God has called you to do?
  • Prayer: Ask God to help you avoid distractions and stay committed to His plan for you.

Day 7: Nehemiah 7

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 7:3.
  • Observation: After the wall is completed, what steps does Nehemiah take to ensure the city is protected? Why is this important?
  • Application: After you finish a task, how can you safeguard and maintain what you’ve accomplished?
  • Prayer: Thank God for helping you complete tasks, and ask for wisdom to protect what’s important in your life.

Day 8: Nehemiah 8

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 8:10.
  • Observation: What happens when the people hear the Word of God? How do they respond to Ezra’s reading of the Law?
  • Application: How does reading God’s Word impact your life? How can you make it a regular part of your day?
  • Prayer: Pray for joy and understanding as you study the Bible, just as the people in Nehemiah’s time found joy in God’s Word.

Day 9: Nehemiah 9

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 9:3.
  • Observation: How do the people react after hearing the Law? What do they confess, and how do they respond to God’s faithfulness?
  • Application: How can you confess your mistakes and receive God’s forgiveness? What does this chapter teach you about God’s mercy?
  • Prayer: Ask for a humble heart to confess your sins and thank God for His forgiveness.

Day 10: Nehemiah 10

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 10:29.
  • Observation: What commitments do the people make in their covenant with God? Why is it important for them to make these promises?
  • Application: How can you commit to following God’s ways in your daily life?
  • Prayer: Pray for the strength to keep your commitments to God and follow His Word faithfully.

Day 11: Nehemiah 11

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 11:2.
  • Observation: What is the significance of some people choosing to live in Jerusalem? How do you see God’s plan unfolding through the organization of the people?
  • Application: How can you serve where God places you, even when it might be hard or less comfortable?
  • Prayer: Pray for a willing heart to go where God leads and serve in the way He asks.

Day 12: Nehemiah 12

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 12:43.
  • Observation: How do the people celebrate the dedication of the wall? What role does worship and thanksgiving play in this chapter?
  • Application: How can you incorporate worship and thanksgiving into your life, especially when God helps you complete something important?
  • Prayer: Thank God for the blessings in your life and ask for a heart of worship and gratitude.

Day 13: Nehemiah 13

  • Scripture: Write down Nehemiah 13:14.
  • Observation: What reforms does Nehemiah make in this final chapter? How does he continue to stand up for what is right even after the wall is completed?
  • Application: How can you continue to live in obedience to God even after completing a big task or achieving something significant?
  • Prayer: Ask God to help you remain faithful to Him and His ways, even when things are going well.
