Biblical Polygyny: Is It Forbidden Now?

An extremely hot topic has fallen into my lap...

I wish I could say that I had the time to actually blog about this but truth is, I just don't.  This truth I see goes so deep that I really - really just needed to teach the scriptures and leave it be.

For that... I used the podcast!  Yes, it's been awhile. Sorry about that but ... :)

This hot topic has definitely taken a toll on my study time and from it I have arrived at the following conclusions:

1. Adultery is only based on the status of the woman.  If a man (husband) sleeps with a married or engaged woman, that woman is considered an adulteress.

2. If a married man sleeps with a woman who is not his wife, he must marry that woman; there is no restriction on the number of wives that he can have - only a regulation of what he is to provide for the new wives.

3. A man can only divorce his wife for unfaithfulness.

Sounds sexists huh?

Just take a listen here for a detailed discussion giving biblical definitions of adultery and polygyny. What do the scriptures really say? Let’s break down sexual sin, the regulations given, and more arguments surrounding this topic. Where is the biblical law, consequence or prohibition of polygyny?
